The Plymouth Police Department Today Budget: $7.6 million. Personnel: 102 full-time officers (all ranks,) 18 full-time civilians, 27 part-time employees. That's 147 in all. Breakdown: One chief, two captains, five lieutenants, 11 sergeants, 83 patrol officers, nine civilian dispatchers, five clerical workers, three animal control officers (one part-time,) and 11 school-crossing guards (all part-time.) Detective Bureau: Ten members. A supervising lieutenant and nine detectives. Two detectives are assigned exclusively to narcotics. Deployment: Two major divisions: administration and operations. A captain is in charge of each. Each working shift has a lieutenant in charge and two sergeants to supervise patrols. Each shift also has two dispatchers. Motor vehicles: 32 in all (24 marked, 8 unmarked.) Marked vehicles include 18 cruisers, three 4-wheel drive vehicles, a prisoner van and an animal control vehicle. Population: About 50,000 (Second largest in Plymouth County, behind Brockton.) Square miles: About 104 (Largest in Plymouth County and largest in Massachusetts.) Road miles: 432 (Most in Plymouth County.) |
